Encouraging Independence in Daily Routines

I’ve been wondering how to better promote independence during our morning routine — my daughter often seeks help for simple tasks like getting dressed or making breakfast. I recently started letting her choose her clothes, and it sparked her confidence. What are some other ways you encourage your kids to take charge of their daily rituals?

Letting her make her own breakfast is a great step! It’s amazing how they can turn a simple task like spreading butter into a culinary adventure. How about letting her pick out a snack for later too?

It sounds like you’re on the right track; i’ve found that letting my kids set the table for breakfast gives them a sense of ownership over the meal. Plus, it’s a nice way to sneak in some life skills — who knew learning to balance plates could double as a circus act?

Letting her pick her clothes is a fantastic start! I’ve found that giving my kids a small chore, like setting up their own breakfast station, empowers them a lot. It makes the morning feel more like their own routine.
