Exploring Montessori through everyday activities

I’ve been really focusing on how practical life activities can enhance my students’ motor skills and independence. Recently, I introduced a simple pouring exercise using rice and cups, and it was amazing to see their concentration and joy! How do others incorporate such sensory activities into their routines?

I love that pouring exercise with rice! I’ve found that incorporating a simple transfer activity with water and sponges not only helps with fine motor skills but also adds a sensory element that kids really enjoy. Have you tried anything similar with different materials, like beans or seeds?

It’s great to hear about the pouring exercise! I’ve also used different sizes of containers to add a bit of challenge, like pouring from a larger jug into small cups — it’s like a tiny Olympic event for those little hands. What sensory activities do you think might be most engaging for the kids next?
