Incorporating Natural Materials in Art

I’ve been exploring ways to integrate more natural materials into our art sessions, and it’s been fascinating to see the children’s creativity bloom when they have access to leaves, twigs, and stones. The organic textures seem to inspire them in ways that traditional art supplies don’t. Have any of you tried this approach, and what materials have worked well in your classrooms?

But i’ve had great success using pinecones in our art sessions… The kids love painting them, and the textures really add something unique to their creations. Have you tried different types of leaves for texture variation?
