Why did the math book look sad

Because it had too many problems! I was working with my students the other day on solving equations, and one of them quipped this joke out of nowhere. It got me thinking about how humor can really lighten the atmosphere when tackling tough concepts in math and science. What are some other funny moments you’ve had in your lessons?

I love that joke! It reminds me of how one time a student asked if they could ‘divide by zero’ because it seemed like such a fun idea. Have you found other subjects that spark these kinds of moments like math does?

Haha, love that! I had a student once who said we should make math a ‘no-calculator’ zone just to keep it exciting. What’s one playful strategy you’ve used to teach a tough concept?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌

I totally get how humor makes learning easier! One time, I told my class that math is like a story, and each equation is a twist in the plot. It got them more engaged, and we ended up creating silly ‘math adventures’ for each problem.
